battery

A Motobatt MB9U will last at least twice as long as a lead-acid YUASA and is worth the price in my opinion. Google around for best price, you'll probably find it on eBay.

I use red loctite on terminal screws and tighten the heck out of them as they tend to vibrate loose.

parts suppliers

This is a very old thread but may help; some of these suppliers have gone out of business. Most CB77 suppliers also have parts for CLs.

The wire to the starter button is hot, pushing it grounds circuit to operate starter. Take housing apart again and make very sure the wire is not grounding out. Things are very tight in there. I ended up filling the cavity with liquid electrical tape on mine.

valve clearance?

Might want to recheck your valve clearances. I had a similar issue, turned out to be a too-tight exhaust valve.

motobat

You'll want a low-amp battery tender to go with it; charging with a regular battery charger won't be good for it and may void warranty. Terminals have a way o...

battery

No conversion necessary, at least on my bike everything fit like the old YUASA. One thing I've noticed is the terminal adapters can work loose where they attach to the battery leaving you coasting to a stop. It happened to me a couple of times so I got to where I'd carry a 10x14 wrench and the prope...

Re: Screws

I have two manual impact drivers and one that is powered. The first problem is finding a phillips bit that will work. The second is that after a couple of tries the screw head is damaged beyond using. It is fairly easy to drill off screw head and remove remaining screw once cover is removed. A JIS ...
