Same with the soap, once it's dried there is no further lubrication and no slip. I think even if I used WD40, based on the degree of stretch required, there would still be no slip.

I got the Gran Turismo one's off eBay because they were the same design as my damaged ones. The left one was no problem, but the right one (1") was a real pain. I used rubber lube (used to install tires) and still ended up jerry rigging a press to get it all the way on. It went on so hard I thought...

I've used with great success, "LA's Totally Awsome". It works great on most anything including washing your hands. Also works great on break dust, dead insects smashed on cars and road tar. It's a whopping $1.00 at your local dollar store. I used it on my dream with a green scrub pad and tooth brush...

I thought perhaps a tool store? Have posted a photo - hopefully it will make sense to someone. Ian Th...

My bone head moment occurred when I was cleaning a carb from pre-70's bultaco. I used my wire wheel on my grinder to try and remove the remnants of a gasket. The wheel grabbed that puppy out of my hand and shot it down on the concrete floor with a vengeance only seen in films. My "irreplaceable" car...

O.S., My '63 Dream has stanless as well. Some discoloration but no rust. I believe they are original to the bike. Steve
