Looks like you need a new chain do buy a quality one. Check your sprocket teeth are not hooked (worn) if they are then a new chain will soon be clapped out.

Thanks SMBH. I thought that might be the case! Have got new coils, plugs, points and leads, as has been a 3 year ground up rebuild. Will keep trying different things, as may be a fueling or carb balance issue as well. I am tempted by electronic ignition, what set up have you got? Thanks again This ...

It's your bike you do what you want with it, im no expert machinist the angled washers I made up were just me and a hacksaw and file they worked very well.

Not cheap but I fitted one of the Honda CB72 CB77 Cappellini 105 chain tensioner sprocket A it replaces 39mm roller and it fitted easy and works very well.

Now that looks realy nice I have the David Silver one made in the far east I think and im not happy with it but I have a spare seat pan and I may just give it a try.
Can you say were you purchased the cover and the what looks like the correct chrome trim.
