Re: Slow return to tickover

Thanks for the input, after some further investigation this turned out to be a side effect of the ignition timing being off. I think because the ignition timing was off (retarded) I had tweaked the carb setting to get it to tick-over at a reasonable speed. After re-timing the ignition I needed to ma...

Slow return to tickover

Bike is 1964 CB77Superhawk, this problem has always been lurking in the background but seems to got worse. If I rev the engine it takes several seconds (like 7 or 8) to return to tickover. I have checked the throttle cables, looking into the intakes I can see that both throttle slides have snapped b...

Re: Superhawk muffler baffles

OK thanks! I would prefer to get the bike back to the original if possible so I may try and replace the baffles.
I am not really sure if the whole baffle was removed or just a part - need to investigate a bit more closely.

Superhawk muffler baffles

The Superhawk I inherited some years ago is missing the muffler baffles. Apart from the noise, does this have any affect on the performance? I assume that the engine was was designed to run most efficiently with he baffles in place. The bike runs just fine, but it will not start on the electric star...

OK folks thanks! I will chase up some of the Heidenau tires, I wonder why I could not find that link online?

Superhawk CB77 Tire Sizes?

I will need to replace the tires on my 1964 CB77, (not worn out, just v old). According to the manual they are 2.75-18 front and 3.00-18 rear. However on the bike now are 3.00-18 front and 3.50-18 rear. It would be good to put the correct tires on but I can't find any 2.75-18 tires. Any thoughts on ...

Re: 1964 CB77 Intermittent Electrical problem

Ha! - well that was the problem! Not only was the cap loose but the fuse had fallen apart, see image. Thanks, I would have got there eventually but this saved me some time - vibration over 50 years you think? I doubt very much if this is the original fuse but I have owned the bike since 2014 and hav...
