Thank you JVK for your reply post. The Dream looks pretty good. I guess the tank is rust free. Gas is new. I might check the petcock then. I have a small gas tank I hang from the handlebar or a stand when testing. The carb may also need to be removed, cleaned and checked, or rebuilt. https://i.imgu...

I got 1965 Dream 305 last year. It is in pretty good condition. Before buying I rode it a couple of blocks. Now I try to start the engine, it starts then stops. If not for a correct online diagnosis the engine may have been taken down unnecessarily or the cycle just parked indefinitely.

I agree with Tim - synthetic oils are not any more "slippery" than conventional oils - just stronger because they have a closed molecular structure. I have a nice set of 3 sizes I purchased from from McMaster-Carr in the U.S that are made by Vessel.

Sometimes a screw head will be in between sizes, so you need to have a selection to find which one fits best.
