CB77 - No return to low throttle ?

On the subject of advance problems. My CB77 sometimes fails to return to low throttle during shifting, scary in traffic! Starts on first button push and idles well. After warming up if given throttle it sometimes continues to rev ( tach out for repair) high. Turning the key off and immediately resta...

Re: Broken Float Tang

I had the same problem. Bike sat for years and the pewter corroded around brass pin. I clamped body in drill press and drilled small hole down onto the “pillar” same for the broken piece. Be careful as the pewter grabs. Wouldn’t dare try it with a hand held drill motor. Make it big enough dia. To be...

Re: Half wave rectifier

Last night I had a nightmare where my high school physics teacher was beating me over the head with a bar magnet. He kept saying North South over and over. The magnet broke before my skull, yet he still kept repeating North South. That’s when I had an epiphany, the coil can’t be half wave. As north ...

Re: Half wave rectifier

Thank you, I have the same manual saved in my cloud. Ain’t the internet great! You are right, the graphs are there but lacking in description of the lighting coil type. I think I have it figured out, just waiting on my oscilloscope to verify. I will post results later. Thank you all for the help.

Re: Half wave rectifier

If you have time look at a YouTube video by Antilaakeri “6 coil stator full wave conversion-single phase charging”. This is like the S65, and other small bikes system only with one coil instead of the array of six. Note coils to ground in diagram with shunt +- midway. Diagram after conversion shows ...

Re: Half wave rectifier

Yes Tim, that is the correct schematic for mine except for the winkers that we weren’t required to have here in ‘65. Under the flywheel there are two coils, the one on the right is the primary supplying power to the ignition coil ( no batt required to run). The coil on the left is the “lighting coil...

Half wave rectifier

Please don’t beat up on me for this topic! I have posted on other small bike forums without any luck. I know there are contributors here whose knowledge transcends the 72/77/95 bikes. Old problem, insufficient lighting power. The S65 has a half wave selenium rectifier and no regulator. It appears th...
