sometimes, if your fuel lines have too much dip below carb level, fuel won't easily run to the carb. I have had this occur with stock connections as well as auxillary tank set up. eliminate as much dip below the carbs as possible. open the bowl drain screws to get fuel flowing helps as well. not sur...

most of the bikes listed in your fitmint list don't even have primary chains, the clutches are gear driven. pretty sure what you are getting is a rear drive chain.

are you sure you are firing on both cylinders? your symptoms sound like a dead cylinder. plug wire or bad /fouled plug. trim the wire back 1/4" and make sure the cap contacts are clean.

I have fabricated a couple for the early dream. there are two versions for two different sized batteries. It's a pretty simple piece of sheet metal work---It won't look correct but no one sees it. good used are just fine on dreams. I clean/deglaze them with a trip to the sandblaster.
