If you take that old switch to a locksmith and show him the number on it he may be able to make you a new one.

They have two harnesses originally, an ignition harness(which you apparently have) and a main harness for the lights & horn. If you have the original key switch you can attach the rectifier output and the capacitor positive lead right to the hot terminal of that switch.

The plus and minus terminals are connected to the original battery terminal wire ends, that's all there is to it. Best way to do it is to ditch the original rectifier and replace it with a modern single phase regulator/rectifier, that will take care of the excess voltage.

Line it up so it slips over the woodruff key and snug down the bolt. I'm sure there's a torque spec for that somewhere.

You should never hit on the alternator rotor, it tends to de-magnetize it, that affects the charging output.

Does that mean that you destroyed the muffler to get it off the pipe? I know they are ugly things but that seems a bit harsh. I wasn't aware that doing that the remaining pipes would be the same lengths as the original, pre muffler type. Are the sections of pipe that were inside the muffler chrome ...

I think that's why you seem to find a lot of CL77 exhausts that have been shortened by a few inches, If you really want to remove the muffler cut the upper pipe through just in front of the muffler box and then cut the lower pipe to match, not pretty though. On mine, I cut the muffler, just outside...
