Hi Graham,
I have a r/h footrest bracket that I think is an early one, it is narrower section than later ones and has been welded but needs fettling and maybe a bit of straightening. It's yours if you need it.

Both of the boys are correct, a lot of plates fit. My nephew used to race a cart with a 250 Honda moto cross 2 stroke engine in it, guess what, the plates are the same.

Hi Greg,
I am pretty sure they are crimped, the groove is for the protective gaiter. The other end is soldered.
