In the fifty years of gross neglect and shabby mechanics we see on these bikes I am not surprised that you have studs to clamp the bars down not to mention the early lowers on a late model bike. No but it sometimes helps to roll the rear wheel so the next set of gears engage. Rusty

Thanks Tim, I did use the best of the three and got current to the ignition and lights so far but the key comes out even in the on position. At least I can get this thing to fire off. Eventually I will look for a NOS switch when I get to the cosmetic part of this project. I just don't see these swit...

ignition switch

With the aid of an ohm meter I have three switches that do not show continuity where they are supposed to.
Question: is the switch from Thailand worth the $150 and the long ship time? Thanx, Rusty

I finally got around to getting other projects out of the way and with virus restrictions looming I now have time on my hands . I got ambitious and pulled the engine and broke down the upper end. Since I could not get a suitable compression test. What I found was stuck rings and slick cylinder walls...

The gas cap has two vent holes that are likely clogged. Separate the two halves to clean the vent holes to solve that problem but then again you still have a leaky petcock. Both need to be addressed. Rusty
