Hmmm.....good question. I plan on fixing/replacing things that don't work like the electric starter, speedo, replacing parts that are missing, repainting, etc. But some parts like the mufflers I will use reproductions. So I guess a little of both? Thanks, Beck I have a question. What type of restore...

Hey Randy, I actually rode her home so the engine/Tranny feels good. The rest of the bike needs a lot of care though. Thanks, Beck A good plan for any restoration, If possible, is to first get it running and ride it. even if it's just up and down the driveway. this way you will get a feel for the tr...

Re: Restoration

Cadman, She runs quite well, so I'm actually ahead of the game there. The previous owner installed new rings, points and condenser. The rest of the bike? Needs a lot of TLC. Thanks for the tips. Beck Remove all old gas. Pull plugs and see if it turns over easily and it has spark. If no spark check p...

Re: Prepping for paint/Do it yourself or farm it out?

Very nice G-Man. I have to admit I had to google Bead Blasting. Thanks! Beck I farm out my prep work and have parts bead-blasted. I paint myself using a small compressor and HVLP spray guns. https://www.flickr.com/photos/63154743@N00/7018093063/in/album-72157623926089106/ G Hey guys, I'm about to st...

About ready to start restoration - Engine question

So yes, I'm waiting on a couple of manuals but I'll be taking my '64 300 apart for restoration.

Should I run all the gas out first? Anything else I need to do to the engine before I start?

It' could be sitting for quite a while.

Thanks,

Beck
