Re: Uh oh - 180 degrees off?

Ok Tim - I haven't had time to look more closely at what is happening. Grrr. I'll post what I find. Getting too old to sit on the ground next to the bike, and no bike lift. :-( GG

Uh oh - 180 degrees off?

Hello friends - I'm beginning to be embarrassed! I thought I was a better mechanic. :-( Superhawk 305. Fought with the cam chain to move it one tooth, put everything back together, huge difference, lots of power, but idles rough. Put the light on the points, and they are backwards. :-( :-( Will the ...

Re: Cam timing question

Re: Cam timing question

No winter in Costa Rica!!! (I live in Costa Rica - only lots of rain 7 months of the year) But no cold, thankfully!

Ok, I'll see if the chain looks worn too much.

I appreciate your help! Have a great afternoon,

Re: Cam timing question

Thanks Tim! I suspect you are right. What a shame with this site, because in the past it was great and saved a lot of people! (Like me) :-) The issue I had with the chain is that you have to remove the tensioner in order to be able to pull the chain tight enough. When the tensioner is applied, thing...

Cam timing question

Hello! I have a question on the cam timing, Superhawk, cb77 305cc. I put the motor together some months back, but I have no power at all at low rpm's, mixture is rich with smallest jets possible and everything else in perfect / new condition (condenser, coils, carburetor float needles, etc) If the m...

Still running rich at 5,000 ft elevation w/ smallest jets

Hello all, Advice and experience welcomed. My 1966 Superhawk, well cared for, has always run well. I had to replace the head gasket, honed cylinders, new rings and while apart I went through the carbs - but all was very clean. I'm running a 120 main and 35 low jet. With this jetting I could pass smo...
