CB750 carbs on CB77

Post by GregMcN » Tue Jul 11, 2017 3:54 pm

Hi

This topic has obviously been discussed before but I could not find any pictures when I searched the forum. So I wondered if anyone had any pictures of how they can be fitted? Can they be fitted with the standard tank?

Thanks Greg

I think the CB750 (early) carbs are similar to the CB77 ones dimensionally. You'll need the adapter stub to attach it to the CB77 head.

Early SL350 carbs are another alternative and probably cheaper to get.

The early CB750 carbs are similar in appearance to those on the CB77 but are actually quite a bit bigger. As Graham points out you would need to make up adaptors to mount them but I'm not sure the standard tank would fit without some modification.

I have pictures of the two carbs side by side for comparison, if someone could explain how to do it I would post the images on the list!

I'll explain when I am back in UK but in the meantime, if you send a pic to me, I'll post it for you.

I have a set of a larger Keihins fitted to the bike I just aquired and I am assuming they are the cb750 ones though I need to do some checking. They are on a home built manifold but quite a long way from the head. I was told too big to fit with standard tank but wanted to be sure, hence wondered how others had fitted and request for pictures. Currently bike struggles to run but things to check before I blame the carbs and I do not have standard ones so Ideally I want to stay with them.

G-man, DJM
Thanks for the pictures, my carbs do look like the 750 ones in the picture.
