Petcock Spigots fell out !

Post by dragonfly888 » Sat Aug 10, 2019 8:25 pm

I have a 1966 CP77 and have had some small leaking problems at the petcock (non-Honda), so, today, I decided it was time for a change.

I have a couple of clean, used early model CB77 petcocks with crossover. I chose one to install on my bike.

I first installed a complete petcock rebuild kit.

Then, I installed the petcock on my bike, turned the lever of the petcock and gas started leaking around the exit spigots.

I had already attached and secured rubber tubing from the petcock to the to the carbs.

I tried tightening the small tie-wraps which secured the rubber hose and one, then both spigots came out of the body of the petcock !!!

I didn't expect that !

Just wondering how I can re-attach the spigots to the petcock ?!? It looks like some sort of "glue" remains on one of them.

I have photos and will try to upload them.

Thanks for your help. It isn't urgent, as I have since installed another one, but I would like to save the part, if possible. Maybe someone else could use it !!!

Usually you can tap them back into the hole.
Try that as it works for me. ..............lm

Petrol tap spigots,

Yes, that's worked for me too a couple of times, just tap them back in and, surprisingly, they seem to stay put.
If you're unhappy about it just add a couple of drops of Loctite or similar but don't let it get inside the tap.
