Short fuel line and bent tab

Post by Kigsby » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:30 pm

1962 Dream - The fuel line that runs between the two tanks is a short 6 inches running behind the horn. I would have to drain the tank before taking it off because the line could not go around the horn. In the parts manual, it looks like the line is supposed to be much longer with a loop in it. The line looks old/original. Should it be replaced with a longer line? Also, while cleaning the gas strainer in the petcock, the old tank cushion broke off. I've ordered new ones, but there's a piece of metal on top of it that appears to be bent down on the right side. What is that for?? Anything I need to worry about or is it just a plate to protect the screw from the cushion from going up into the tank?
