Fork cap...

so I've run into an impass how do I get this off??? I've got the rest of the bike stripped to the frame but I'm having trouble getting the forks off...

Remove the fork tubes then ya can knock it off with a rubber mallet. .............lm

After I remove the bolts in the bottom triple clamp I spray some slick-um like PB Blaster around the tube where it can run down and get into the lower TC area and I spray some around the top TC where the tube is coming out of the top TC. I then use a rubber mallet to hit the chrome top bolt. Be sure to have that bolt about 1/8 inch out the top. You will see the tube move down and as it does turn the CTB out a small amount more. Once ya have the tubes down about 3/8 inch then ya can use the rubber mallet to knock the upper TC off the stem.Slow and easy is the word here. .........lm
