Rear Bush Fork - compatible bikes ?

Post by Phil-UK » Thu Nov 03, 2016 4:44 am

I am looking at putting together another rolling chassis ( CB77 ) and the swinging arm bushes feel worn. Honda describe them as "Rear Bush Fork" and the Maintenance Manual gives ID and OD but a search throws up a comment on this forum that the bushes from the XL-250 are in metal and fit.
Anyone know which XL-250 this is ? The XL-250 K1 parts list shows similar bushes as does the XL-250 S but then they go to needle rollers for the later models.
Ebay also shows a Polish company doing bronze bush sets for the CB350/CB500etc., at a very reasonable price - anyone know if these would fit or could be easily adapted ?

thanks on advance

Phil

Phil

Pretty sure the bushes for the XL250 Motosport are metal......

The collars have a 286 model code so those would be CB250/350....

Phil,

I bought some of the Polish ones, beautifully made, they only lacked the slight chamfer on the leading edge which aids insertion, no big deal. They fitted perfectly and were cheaper than replacement 'cardboard' originals. I think this style of bushes were used on quite few models but as far as I know all the others were metal (sintered cast iron?) not cardboard. Certainly those on my CL77 are.

Hi DJM,

Just checking to see if the "Polish" CB350 bushes are still available. Can't seem to find them on evilbay.

Regards Richard

I think Classic Honda Restoration and Ohio Cycle stock aftermarket reproductions.

These obviously aren't the same ones I bought as they are made in the U.S. and mine came from Eastern Europe. They look the same as I would expect, simply bronze copies of the Tufnol originals, should be fine.

I did have a look to try and find the seller I bought from but no luck, these should be fine anyway and a big improvement on the originals.
