How many friction plates in the clutch?. ..............lm

think 4 metal plates and 5 clutch plates been a few years since i went in that area

a friend said that it may be the metal plates that are warped and when engine gets warm plates wont seperate from clutch plates or maybe the clutch springs need a change do you know where I can get good metal plates

If the bike is an actual 66 issue it should have a Cush Drive Clutch with the 5 steel (1st is thicker than the other 4) and 2 wires. The friction disc should have aluminum core. I'd say at this time ya need to get inside and look at all the parts before ya start gathering parts. It's possible all ya need to do is clean/blast those steel plates and wash the friction disc with parts cleaner and go from there. ............lm

ok I'll check inside when I rebuild the bike I remember 1 steel wire that we didn't put back in. when we rebuild the clutch I also remember 6 friction disk in the clutch but we only put five since it didn't fit with the new disks.the manual was confusing it mentionned only five disks
