NO CLUTCH SLIP... it's FIXED

Post by barnbiketom » Mon Feb 20, 2017 2:23 pm

OK,
1. I put it back together, just as it was.. no adjustments were made, no changes made. I only cleaned the oil off of the friction and steel plates with brake cleaner
2. I had already drained the oil, so I filled it up with Valvoline 10W-40 motorcycle oil and started it and fully warmed it up.
3. I dropped the oil again and filled it again with the 10-40 JASO-MA Valvoline.
4. Rode bike . NO SLIP. I can't MAKE it slip, even in 4th gear reving it up and dropping the clutch at 50 mph. NO SLIP.

PEEPEE on the new rotella t4 at least in this 66 305 Scrambler.

I just bought T4 for my SuperHawk (I used to use the T), and I was a bit concerned about it after having read this discussion. I just got off the phone with Shell, and they said that the formula did change somewhat, but it should still be perfectly fine for wet clutch motorcycles. I'm going to run it and see what happens.

Just an update on my use of the new Rotella T4 15W-40: No clutch slippage at all. I'm not going to worry.
