66 CL77 had no clutch slip and you couldnt MAKE it slip..until oil change with Rotella "T4" 15-40, picked up by accident.. they are phasing out the old "T"
Almost immediately, it slips

Slipping clutch?

Post by G3 » Wed Feb 08, 2017 11:36 pm

The manual calls for 30wt non detergent if your average temperature is above 59 degrees F.
If it's on the lower side starting at 59, then use 20wt non detergent, and 10wt if your at 32F.
Oil threads generally generate quite a response, so wait and see if you can, as there a few bulbs brighter than I on the forum.

Simple oil change might overcome your trouble since you had no trouble before, but the clutch plates may need a washing, I don't know.
Or, you can futz with the clutch if you're minded to and see if you get a positive result.

BEWARE the new Rotella T "4" is not the same stuf. the old "T" is being phased out. only a few places now have the older "T".
The new stuff must have additives in it like more moly...
back to 30W until I am satisfied another oil will be better??

Interesting!

Does the new version have JASO MA listed as a spec on the bottle?

Yes.it does and I've seen others on the web questioning this oil too.
