Questions on sprockets on Dream

Post by MARG » Tue Jun 27, 2017 10:21 am

Hi guys,
Hope you can help me out again, 1965 Dream, stock sprockets I think, 16 tooth counter and rear 29 tooth. Has anyone changed out either one of these to lower engine RPM at 50,60 MPG and I find first a little too low and short. I would like to add one on the front or three less at the rear. Has any one attempted this and how were the results? Are these sprockets readily available if so where? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would go up one tooth on the front sprocket first and see how that works.

You haven't said where you are located so here is a good company near where I am......

The Dream is definitely geared too short. There are sprocket companies out there who can make a smaller rear for your Dream. I'd suggest going two teeth smaller.
Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.

Hi Guys,
Quick follow up on this thread..
I have just purchased a 1966 Dream. I'm based in the UK, and finding it difficult to locate a suitable rear sprocket. My current one is completely shot.

The nearest I can get is 30T, but if anything I would like to go to 27 or 28T.

I know Ohio does them, but they do not ship outside the US as far as I can tell.

Does anyone based in the UK know where I can get one?

http://www.sprocketsunlimited.com can only supply 33T minimum.

Thanks
Pete
