On the Mac, you load the pic into Preview and then go to "tools", "adjust size"

The following menu pops up and you need to set something less than 800 x 600 pixels.

Remember to save under a new name or your original will be squashed.

Like the PC you can set it so that Preview is the default so that you can just double-click the picture icon to load it up.

Nice one, G! Thanks for adding that info.

Some noobs sometimes seem to have an initial problem uploading to PHP/BB, so it makes sense to have a tutorial 'sticky' of helpful tips.

I found the Flickr.com method to be the best. Not only can you post pics that are hosted there for free, you can also just direct folks to your Flickr site and let them see all your pics at one time without having to cut and paste html or BB code for each and every shot.
