CB72 Race bike info needed

Post by Twisty » Mon Jan 21, 2019 7:24 am

Greetings from the UK,
I have just managed to buy a bike i have been after for the last 20+ years, it's a Honda cb72 type one built up as a race bike or clubman racer, it has been dry stored for over 20years in a garage but not started or run in all these years.
What i would like to do is register it here in the UK with a daylight MOT for very occasional Sunday rides.
I need some help finding the year of manufacture, i was told she is a 1965 but need some kind of proof for the DVLA to get it registered, can anyone help or at least point me in the right direction please?

Engine and frame numbers would help, if you're shy or nervous omit the last couple of digits.

In some cases these numbers can give a pretty definitive answer but not always.

Engine is CB72 E - 2126##

Hmmm, that's not so good having different years with regards to registering then, could it still be done?
Or should I just keep it as a race bike and get into some historic racing :0)
Thanks for the kind help so far.
