Wiring loom date

Post by nothing but a dreamer » Thu Aug 29, 2019 7:08 am

My CB72 is dated 1962 from the engine and frame numbers but the wiring loom has a date of 1961. Does this mean that the bike was manufactured in 1961 but the bike is a 1962 year model? The loom may have been replaced but that is unlikely. Just curious.........

Usually we find the bike is a 1962 issue and the loom is a 1961 MFG.
Compare parts of the bike to the parts buck numbers. ................lm

Thanks LM. That would make sense and I reckon that it is a 1962 built bike and fitted at the factory with a loom that was assembled and dated the previous year.

A friend of mine has a 1962 CB72 that was exhibited at a National motorcycle show in the UK in November 1961.......

English Motorcycle factories started 'next year' models after the August shutdown.
