With continued hope, and some good detective work, along with a modicum of luck, you never know what might turn up. It might not be much more than closure however, as I found when I located my first bike after 40 years MIA.
I owned a '66 Benelli 250 Sprite back in '72. It was my first bike, and the only instruction I got from the seller was "One up and 4 down. Rev it up and let out the clutch." With that, I popped a wheelie and took off down the street. I rode the hell out of the bike and eventually sold it to a friend, who got it running but I don't think ever registered it.
My friend ended up dying in '81. A few years later I asked his brother if the Benelli was still on the family farm but he said they threw all that stuff away.
Fast forward to a couple months ago and I was contacted by my friend's nephew who was asking about the uncle he never knew. He told me his uncle left a bunch of bikes behind, which they still had, one of them being my old Benelli. Long story short, I was able to buy the Benelli back, along with a '64 CL72. Both of them are in rough shape. the Benelli is nearly a lost cause, partly due to me turning it into a bobber at one point.
But it's my old bike. I figure I owe it to it to restore it to it's proper condition after all the abuse I gave it. We'll see...Image[/img]

'79 BMW R100RS
'03 HD Sportster 883R
'66 Benelli Sprite
'64 Honda CL72/CL77 motor

Been more than 6 years but still looking. Thought I'd make this thread 'alive' again
