Superhawk Price Guide

Post by cyclon36 » Sun Jan 23, 2011 11:11 am

I see a lot of people ask what their bike is worth and how much they should expect to pay. I've been following the sale of CB77's on ebay and storing all the ones that came up since November. I've decided to document the bike and the sale price so people have a better idea of what to expect when it comes to the bike's value. Some people undervalue the bike while others think they have a rare gem that's worth thousands.

These pictures are more as a reference than anything else. I'm sure pricing trends are affected by the time of the year as well. I've noted the day that the auction ended on each of these, whether or not they were running, locked, or just turned over. The rest should be visible from the picture for the most part.

I will organize them by price for the time being unless there seems to be a better way in the future. The no bid bikes will be separated as their prices are not representative of anything other than a non appealing offer.

updated thread with recent auctions. What surprised me was that an all original superhawk was listed in great shape. It only managed to bring in $3,499. I was expecting in the high $4k's like the fully restored ones or higher. I guess that goes to show that people care more about looks than originality. It could also mean the market is low for the year.

One gentleman listed his bike twice and failed to meet reserve both times. First time was $2,550 and the second time was lower at $2,025. Looking at the bike, that was definitely a fair price. I guess we'll see what happens with round 3 :-)

thats my bike i bought february 27th, its in great condition, original black plates, 24000 miles and custom seat. i had to have charlies place in san francisco do a lot of work on it to bring it back up and running about $2000 worth, so it brought it up to $4000 to get it street ready. shes a beauty now, i made a little video of me driving out in the oakland train yards, http://vimeo.com/24252081
i love this site! thanks for keeping it going

Congratulations, Ian; and welcome along!

Looks like your speedo has 'dry bush' syndrome. Nice looking work, though.

dry brush syndrome

Post by hishairisred » Fri May 27, 2011 4:24 am

i was curious what that was, after that run i killed the speedometer after topping about 75/80 (i couldn't tell), and it doesn't work anymore. i just ordered a new speedo cable to replace the original, i figured that was the cause. my rpm meter still works perfectly tho, so i can assume that its the speedo cable, maybe the components driving the meter, any experience with that issue?
