What is this bike worth?

Post by Tim Allman » Tue Jul 18, 2017 11:09 am

There has been a CB77 on Kiji for a couple of months here. The asking price is CAD 1400 (about USD 1100 or GBP 850). It has some parts of interest but some (side covers, tank badges, air filters) are missing as well. It is also seized.

I wonder what others think of this. It seems a bit high to me but I haven't looked at buying one in quite a while. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi Tim,

My 5 cents worth.

The bike needs a lot of work. Many things missing, corroded, engine seized, and can see some parts incorrect for a CB. You're going to spend a fair bit to get it to on the road condition.

You can't buy a basket case bike of any brand in Australia for less than $500 these days.

Somewhere between $500-$1000 would be more like it.
If the engine turned over, then maybe it was worth the $1400.

Good luck Tim.

Richard

Thanks for the comments. They are pretty much what I am thinking.

On the plus side, it has some hard to find parts like the seat and front fender that would definitely help in a CB77 refurbishment that I am doing. And I could drive and pick it up for the cost a one day van rental - no international delivery charges for the parts.

On the negative side, it would just be a pile of parts for $1400, most of which are of no interest.

It has been listed for over two months now but he won't budge on price. I suspect that others think it a bit pricey as well.

Thanks again.

cb77 for sale

Post by Merz64cb77 » Wed Jul 26, 2017 5:51 pm

Hi Tim
I contacted the seller and think he s out to lunch on the price. He lives near my work but I haven't looked at it because he's stuck on $1400. The no title is also a concern.

I just un seized my engine which was a lot of work.

I wanted his rear chain guard but he won't part out either

Based on the pictures it's worth $500 in my opinion.
