Camshaft types

Are the CB77 and CL77 camshaft the same ? I have searched the forum but can find only one vague reference to that being a possibility.

Camshafts

Well, yes and no, the CL's don't have a rev counter fitted so obviously the left hand camshaft doesn't have the extension with the rev-counter drive gear on it.

However, the cam grind, timing and lift figures are the same for the CBs and CLs so Yes the cam profiles and timings are identical.

To confirm, CBs and CLs list the same part number for the (Identical) right hand side camshafts.

Just be aware though that the last versions of both engines used camshafts with a different spline profile although the profiles didn't change.

If you are desperate, it's possible to cut the rev counter drive portion off a CB camshaft and use it in a CL engine, you obviously need to use the shorter CA/CL centre bolt if you do this.
