Re: Rear sprocket,

Even with standard 15/37 teeth the CL is quite low geared, with a 13 t front sprocket the engine must really be screaming. I've run with a 16t front and 37 rear with no problems at all, just keeps the engine revs that bit lower for the same road speeds. Don't assume that pulling higher gearing will make the bike faster though, could be quite the reverse. That said we're not really riding flat out on these old things (very often anyway) are we?
Yes, I bought the bike with 38T - 13T.

Topspeed about 60mph, and yes, it screams. :D
1st gear is useless with my combination so I usually take off in 2nd.

I bought 2 new sprockets from Tim at CHR. 37T and 15T.
In doubt whether to install them both... Guess I will try 37-13 first.
The roads I ride are usually limited to 45mph.

CL77 gearing

I think you'll still find the 13 tooth front sprocket way too low. The CL77 is a good relaxing ride at 40 - 50 mph on standard 15 / 37 sprockets.

Period road tests put top speed at 90 mph, I suspect that must have been with the rider 'flat on the tank' and I wouldn't fancy doing that on mine, if I want to go that fast I take out by CB77 !

What size chain do I need for standard sprockets on a CL77?

So 37 rear + 15 front...
DID 530, 100 links?

Common issue with this type of seat setup?

Noticed some noise while driving over bumps lately, thought it was play on the steering stem but discovered that the seat "c-clamps" have worn in on the frame and caused a little bit of play between the seat and frame. See pictures.

Solved it temporary by wrapping some electrical tape around the little bar on the frame.
If anyone has a better solution, let me know.

Guess it's why Honda switched to a rubber mounted setup for the '67 model.

I see a bit of wear on the posts............cloth tape or rubber sleeves are a common fix.....be sure the seat-pan does not touch the battery.

Small update from the past months.

Cleaned the centrifugal oil filter today.

Wanted to install new spokes so got in spoke set from Buchanan's / Classic Honda Restoration.
Front wheel spokes were OK. Spokes for the rear wheel were 5mm too long, so returned them and the next set I received were 5mm too short... It takes a long time to get a package or order from the US to Belgium and I was running out of patience so decided to source some NOS spokes because the weather was getting good.

Next up is replacing the front drive sprocket (from 13 to 15) and maybe I'll replace both oil seals at the sprocket because it's leaking oil around that area.
