Horn installation

Post by FreeRadical » Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:53 pm

OK, this seems ridiculous but when I went to install my horn into the headlamp shell there is a 1/8" gap between the shell and the horn, even with the gasket in place. It seems the horn is too deep for the well. There doesn't seem to be another wrong way to install this thing, so I'm completely baffled!

I got a great tip from Tim and Classic Honda Restoration. He suggested I split a length of rubber fuel line length wise and use it as a gasket. It's not enough to form a watertight seal, but it's a lot better than what it was. Thanks, Tim!

The horn on a CL is designed to float in a hole larger than it is.
HONDA installed a formed not round "O" ring in the bottom of the headlight.
((((((((((((((((((It shows in the parts book along with the other rubber mounts.))))))))))))))).
The parts book doesn't actually show the parts only #17-61102-273-000 and #18-61303-273-000 but put those numbers on 2 other rubber parts in the pic................lm
