Whitewall tyresWhitewall tyresHas anyone tried these whitewall flappers and what do they think about them. I've just fitted a set, they look great but still have to road test them yet when the weather warms up.
Re: Whitewall tyresI have had them on my 305 for 9 years. (thru two sets of tire brands)
They fit well and no one has ever been able to tell they are "fake". They have been speed tested to a GPS verified 87mph.....although I must admit to becoming a little nervous when I remembered they were mounted during my max speed test run! The thought of them becoming "unmounted" at speed did cross my mind! They have since turned a dull yellowish color which I have been unable to clean up. It appears they may have absorbed some oils or whatever from the tire sidewall itself? The close up pic shows a failed attempt to use white shoe polish.

Re: Whitewall tyresThose look pretty cool! Where did you get them?
Re: Whitewall tyresMine were from ebay
Re: Whitewall tyres- speed testingWow, A verified 87 mph from one of these bikes, is that some sort of record?
I quite fancy a C77 or CA77 to go with my CB and CL variants. My mates all take the p**s and say they were slower than slugs, I'm not convinced that they're right but do find 87 mph a bit of a surprise. Another acquaintance who has owned C77s in the past says his first, early bike went really well but his second, much later one was seriously dissapointing in performance although, as far as he could tell, internally both engines were the same. Anyone else have experiences they'd like to share? DJM BTW, Ain't the list great now, no spammers and it even accepts attachments again! Re: Whitewall tyres- speed testingI certainly don't want to imply a 305 dream is normally capable of 87 mph under standard conditions. It occurred at the bottom of a slight downhill grade (as flat as I could find around here), with a slight tailwind, and while doing my best Rollie Free imitation. I was testing the accuracy of my Speedo vs a handheld GPS strapped to the bars, and kind of got caught up in the moment. It as a pretty uncomfortable feeling on the dream especially when I remembered the "flappers"! And yes, a big thanks to those who helped save the forum! 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
