New C72 owner in ireland

Post by got2025 » Tue May 20, 2025 9:46 am

Hello all
I am a new owner of a 1966 C72, Dream, from Ireland. I have been lurking here for a while learning as much as i can about the model. It is running sweetly now after fixing the clutch release mechanism and a flooding carburettor. My carburettor is marked Mikui Hoko VM22H and looks similar to photos on line but mine has a semi circular top which is held with a clip rather than being screw fit. Could it be the wrong carburettor? The flange is stamped C72. Not a problem for now as the bike is running well with it.

I do have a few other challenges with the bike though. Firstly, how do you fit the rubber connecting tube and air-filter onto the carburettor. I can see no way to get my fingers inside the frame to tighten hose clips etc. Is there a 'trick of the trade' to getting it fitted or is it just perseverance?

The other problem I have is setting the rear brake pedal. Right now it comes up too high and rests against the right side exhaust. Clearly not right, but I can see no obvious 'stop' adjustment to stop it coming back so high. Am I missing something obvious or is there a special way to set it up?

Thanks for a great forum. I am learning a lot here.
