I've got the front end ripped down to the square nut and can't figure out how it comes off, I didn't know if the square nut turns or not, didn't want to force it without knowing. Also if some one has a pic of how the wiring should look on the battery side cover side of the bike. That would be very helpfull. The rest of the harness is fine, just by the battery it's cobbled with inline fuses, and wire nuts. Also were can you pick up this bill silvers guides. There's lots of references to his books but no links to go buy it .

Bill has a web site you can order from, just google him and you should find it.Yes, the nut comes off and it can be very tight and tough to get off.May need some extra hands to hold the frame.I think I used a big pipe wrench to get mine apart.Some solvent or alittle heat may be needed if it is frozen.Good luck.

Yes, heat is the answer. After soaking all 3 of mine in Liquid Wrench they still would not come off, even with a 16" Crescent wrench. A little heat with a propane torch and it spun right off. Try to take off the ring that goes over that nut before heating, it seems fragile.

I got it apart last night, a little pb blaster and a wrench with a pipe on it. and off it came. Thanks for the help.

Yes, I just took the steering stem apart and had a helluv a time getting that nut off. I had a crescent wrench with a pipe and a small sledge. Eventually, it came loose.

Ahh the joy of old machines. Nothing a hammer, a torch, and a big pipe can't take care of. It'll come off one way or another.
