Post by casamere » Thu Jul 06, 2017 12:28 pm

Has anyone tried these as an alternative to those expensive whitewall tires.

I have not tried them but I think there's a thread somewhere on this board about them.
Overall positive reviews from what I've seen.
I think Portawall's were the brand to get.

Edit:
Found a thread here:

Just ordered some Portwalls 1/1/4" whitewall for when the tires are ready to change.

I HOPE you post some pictures once you get them mounted. ;^) Also a "review" of your results would be nice.

Hi Jim, Not a success I'm afraid, left the wheels in the hands of my local tire shop. Wasn't present at the job but was told they wouldn't grip the sides of the tire at 10psi. Company are accepting them back for a refund. So if I want whitewalls it locks as tho I will have to shell out the bucks for Firestone. OH well it was worth a try.

As I said in my previous post Jim I bought 1 1/4" whitewalls don't know if the larger size would fit better ( 1 1/2" or 2" ) but I didn't want to overload the wall of the tire with white.
I am thinking of bying some whitewall paint, I have a spare tire I could experiment on and see how it turns out.
