I rebuild heads and have a shop that does excellent bore work.
As mentioned you are able to measure for ware of the cylinders using a ring the size you want to fit and measuring the end gap.
As a rule or to say what I've found the guides and stem dimensions are are always good. (2 bad intake guides since 1993. Both broken in the middle)
I do the COMPLETE HEAD for $150.00 and that includes every part other than the tappet covers. .......................lm

With respect to the valves, I want to be sure they seat correctly and the guides are in good shape. If not, repair/replace. Thanks for the ring part number.

Ed,

What would the total cost be for the head rebuild ($150) plus a cylinder hone and shipping back to 17403? I've got a lot of travel coming up and the kid's high school graduation so it might be mid/end of june before I can get it to you. THanks.

OK, I finally got the engine back in my CA78 after the head work. I am having trouble getting her started. I set the valves and points (per Ed's specs). She tries to catch but occasionally misfires and the best I can do is get her to rough idle at half choke for about 30 seconds before stalling.

Ed: Any advise? Please don't tell me my cam chain is off by a tooth.
