Dream CA 77

Post by johnyboy » Mon Aug 12, 2019 12:16 pm

I got 1965 Dream 305 last year. It is in pretty good condition. Before buying I rode it a couple of blocks. Now I try to start the engine, it starts then stops. It is difficult to get it running without stopping. Any help will be appreciated. I live in Prospect Heights, a northwestern suburb of Chicago Thanks

Welcome johny!

I lived in Mount Prospect, near Randhurst, for over 20 years.

Sounds like it's running out of fuel. Either the tank is rusty and the screens are partially blocked or the petcock may be full of crud. You could try bypassing both with an auxiliary fuel tank to see if that corrects the problem.

Make sure the gas is fresh, and use ethanol-free if you can get it.

I have a Black '64 305 -

Thank you JVK for your reply post. The Dream looks pretty good. I guess the tank is rust free. Gas is new.

I might check the petcock then.

I have a small gas tank I hang from the handlebar or a stand when testing.

The carb may also need to be removed, cleaned and checked, or rebuilt.

Black Matt finish. This year put an AFTER market horn, it works okay. The handle bar has welding job, so BOUGHT another handle bar from eBay, BUT don't have the know how to put it on.
