crack pic'swell here are two shots of the crack what do you guys think i should do?
A. nothing b. strip the engine and sell the 360 crank with the head for someone that wants one. c. have it welded up thanks James
Re: crack pic'sActually an easy fix.
Remove the chip. make sure the knock/locater pin is down into the bearing as far as it should be. Apply enough J.B. Weld to hold the chip with a little extra on the outside. ...............lm
Ed your crackin me up! I did that very thing in Thumpers picture just recently. Don't know how...I was being careful, but things happen. Used JB weld over and into the chip, then used a punch to drive the chip back down. But also a bit of it into the guide pin hole base but not enough to keep the pin shoulder from staying high. then I got real smart and beveled the guide pin hole, applied some heat and oil resistant compound and slid it in to the exact depth. Maybe overkill but I was concerned it would leak. Thanks for the lesson. I think I did it as right as I could.
And it looks as though the drive sprocket retainer is welded on in those pics. Good luck Thumper. Mike
