The guy lives close by and makes a living video taping riders as they cross the GAP, and selling the tapes.

And yes, his pegs are ground almost completely off...rubber and metal!

When he announced he was going for the Iron Butt on Deals Gap, I thought surely he would die in the process...but he did it with time to spare.

I learned my lesson several years ago trying to keep up with a little old man on a 1500 Gold Wing going across the same section. I was on a 750 Magna which is a pretty good handling and powerful cruiser. I thought I was going to wear the shifter out between 1st and 2nd the whole way. I don't think he ever got out of 3rd gear.

The foot pegs and case guards get scuffed up when you ride an 1800 goldwing couch rocket like that, been there done that while passing up crotch rockets in the mountains riding two up and pulling a trailer. Get some strange looks when passing up the younger rocketeers, wife just waves as we go by.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Been watching for the last couple weeks. Happened to be doing a Honda right here in Ypsilanti, Mi. Cool stuff indeed. I still havn't grasped the whole concept of chopping a 50 year old motorcycle frame to pieces. But the results are quite impressive at any rate.

It's "Reality TV" ie there's not a lot of reality but it is designed to shock and entertain.
