Hi Everyone,
I'm building a Yetman framed CB72 250 road racer.
My questions is about ignition systems. Do any racers out there have recomendations for CB72/77 racing ignitions? Is PVL the way to go (by the way, where do I find one?)? Total loss? What's the best bang for the buck?
Also, I figure I'll go with a Megacycle cam, but I was curious if anyone else had any recomendations in that area as well.
Shoot me an e-mail if you have CB72/77 race parts for sale.
Thanks for your help!!

CB72/77 Race Ignition and Cams
I just found another post on the ignition topic....still have some questions though. First of all, does PVL even make a "bolt-on" kit fot he CB72/77? I'm not interested in converting another kit or trying to piece something together-electronics are a weak point of mine!
Also, Is Joy Engineering still around? Weren't they making CB77 cams?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks to a few guys e-mailing me info, I've got my ignition system figured out. I'm going to go with an Electrex unit found at this link:
http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/stk-172- ... 500-0.html

It's about $500...not too bad. Does anyone out there have experience with this set up?
Still looking for race cams and any info on that topic.
Thanks,
-Gabe

Good choice of self generating ignition. I was under the impression that HPI and Electrexworld are selling the same units and that the generating part is a PVL manufacture with their attachment ring.
I got a Motoplat from Todd Henning many years ago - still sitting on the bench.
Cams - Megacycle make good cams. What you get depends on how you ride and what mods to the motor. I used to import Norris Cams and then Megacycle into Australia years ago and I think we sold at least one of every profile and everyone seemed to love whatever they bought.
If motor mods are mild and or you are a relative newbie to racing I'd suggest their street and track grind. On other motors we found that spec to work best put of corners.
For a full house motor with higher CR and 64-65mm pistons you can get away with more cam. I use a drag race cam as it suits my riding style - drag down the straights and park it in the corners. ;-)

Be sure to have the hard facing done on the rockers. With the heavier springs, and higher lift, longer duration cam, it will eat up rockers. Megacycle offers this service as well. They are 20 minutes from my house.
