Just bought a 1965 CA95!Just bought a 1965 CA95!I came across somebody selling a 1965 Honda CA95 pretty close to me with 2 parts bike to go with it. I decided I couldn't pass it up. Not sure what they are worth, but figured I would try to get it up and running and clean it up so the wife can ride it. Looks like there is some activity on here, hoping to get her all sorted out.
Any pointers or things to look out for, throw them my way! I have the carb apart and soaking, will have to wait on gaskets before I put it back together. The float bowl gasket is dried out and stuck to the bowl, doesn't want to come out. Any ideas for scraping it out? Have tried soaking it 12 hours and using a flat blade screwdriver, no luck. Have used a razor blade, didn't work.
The petcock looks to be ok, however haven't tested it out so I am sure that will bite me in the ass later. The tank has been coated but it is starting to peel. The coating is white, even though in the pictures it mainly shows black, weird, any ideas how to remove the coating and possibly what coating was used to begin with? Maybe the white color is a hint for anybody who has coated a tank before?
The PO said that there were some electrical gremlins somewhere to be found. Pretty sure I found one of those gremlins.
I bout a new wire harness along with new rectifier and coil, got all installed the other day. The carb has been cleaned and new gaskets replaced the old. I have also taken the speedometer apart and touched the paint up a bit to freshen it up a little. New air cleaner/tube have been delivered as well as a new headlight which was all bought from Thailand. I guess I was expecting NOS version of the headlight and ring, wow was I wrong. It looks great, but everything is plastic. Chrome as well as headlight "glass" Figured I would also include what the old headlight looked like. HAHAHA
Ok guys, I am in a bind trying to get the front tire on. The tire keeps hitting both bolts on either side of the fender (circled in red). Anybody who has worked on one of these had a similar issue? Tim, do you remember dealing with this?
I never had a problem, but then I only ever used the stock size tire on a 150, which is 3.00x16. I see you are using 3.25x16 tires which are standard on the 250/305 Dreams. Drop your tire pressure if you haven't already tried and see if that helps. HT
