Substitute brake shoes?

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Fri Mar 10, 2017 9:00 am

Does anybody have a stateside source for brake shoes for the CA95, or do they have to come from Thailand? Is there a 'suitable substitute' from another bike?

Yeah, I called the place, and I think he's charging that PER caliper, so a whole set costs $80...but I might not have any choice.

Thinking I was going to save some money ( you know how THAT goes), I ordered a full set of brake shoes for my CA95 from Thailand. I got 'em today, and they're nice brakes....they're just too big! Too much meat on the shoe, so to speak...

The shoes are identical - there's just too much pad on the new ones. I can't get them into the brake-well, and even if I DID, the wheel wouldn't turn. Bummer.

There's not a certain way they go in, is there...?

Ah; found a solution: take a palm sander to them and sand them down. All I had to shave off was about a millimeter anyway.

Problem solved. Now they fit great.
