Vintage Flat Track Racing in North Alabama

Post by flathead » Tue May 10, 2011 3:13 pm

Planning on going down Friday nite and take the 250 Scrambler for a few practice runs.

I won't be racing in the Saturday event as it's an AHRMA national and I'm what you would call, uh," LIMITED" in racing skills.

Should be a great weekend. I'm pretty psyched up about having quality vintage flat track racing in our area.

17 years ago when I returned to the M/C hobby, after a 20 hiatus to raise a family and start a business,
we had to travel at least 400 miles just to look at restored bike or to attend any vintage event.

Today we've got vintage flat track 30 miles away, an AHRMA national vintage enduro at the NATRA riding area in West Point, TN ( I can actually park at my Dad's house and ride to the 5000 acre area which includes an abandoned early 1900's Iron Mine) , and the Barber Museum with the great Barber Vintage Festival , only 2 1/2 hours south.

I guess that kind of growth just validates the crazy stuff we do.
