Black paint code for 1964 CA77 also prep for buco bags

Post by Mark13018 » Thu Dec 20, 2012 3:16 am

So I've searched this forum and other sites looking for a code for the black paint code. I recently bought a missing side cover for my bike and it is gray also my buco bags were painted poorly with an actual paint brush. Needless to say it has brush strokes in it and it's not sticking to the fiberglass or plastic the bags are made of and it doesn't take much at all to chip the paint off... I am going to have my brother repaint both side covers and the bags at the same time. I would like them to match the rest of the original bike paint. If anyone has a code for the honda black and any tips or pointers on what to buy for proper adhesion of paint on those bags it would be much appreciated. I have my 71 CL450 cafe racer seat and tank that is fiberglass and I was told to use Nason urethane paint for the color and to put fish eye remover in the clear coat to prevent ethanol/gas/fuel damage but these wont really be near that on my CA77..... He probably knows this stuff but some of you guys have experience with these particular things so sometimes its just easier to ask than wander around lost forever. hahaha. Thanks!

I found this: which is for a 1964 CA72 not a CA77 http://www.ct70paint.com/black.html
I'm not sure if that code will be valid at my local sherwin williams or if its even the right code.

Also found this: http://www.vsource.org/VFR-RVF_files/BH ... tCodes.htm
But that has 28 different blacks and doesn't list which bike each was used on.

This: http://vintagehondamotorcycle.blogspot. ... codes.html
Shows 23 blacks with no models listed

I have yet to find anything really specific for my bike and most sites only go back to about 1970...

All info is appreciated.
