I posted this in the "other twins" section, but thought it might be of interest here. I suspect that the silver used on the fenders of my CB160 was the same as the silver used on the 305's. Not sure, just an opinion.
Anyway, my CB160 spent most of it's life in a dry dark basement and there is no evidence of fading anywhere on the bike. Hidden areas of paint are identical in shade to exposed areas.
I had to touch up an area on the front of the rear fender from a batter acid attack. Using the cap colors to make a match, I got lucky and hit on what appears to be a near perfect match.
Here are the specs for the paint.
Duplicolor BGM0508
Ultra Silver Metallic
GM numbers 95-WA8867, 96-WA8867
Replaces T191
GM PA1107
UPC 26916 71424
Code on can bottom – EBGM0508/HL0232WJ
Can't speak to gasoline resistance. It is tough as nails. The first coat fisheyed. I must've wiped the fender down with a contaminated rag. So I let it bake in the sun for about 4 hours and then thought I'd wet sand it down and reshoot it. The 220 grit paper barely touched it. It should last forever in that hidden forward area behind the battery box.
Gonna shoot the side covers with it.
Dries a semi-dull silver, like the OEM paint.
regards,
Rob
