Don't know if this helps, but here's a pic of my 62. It has the trim, but I don't know if its original or not.

right or wrong seat

I have a 64 dream, and my seat has the two forks that slide in to the bolts under the tank.
It doesn't slide all the way forward, could it be I have the wrong seat for that year.
