charging problem cb77

Post by bill b » Fri Feb 25, 2005 12:31 am

I have a 1965 cb77 that is not charging the battery properly. Even when I rev the engine the battery is not getting a full charge.

I have a new battery, new rectifier, and I have double-checked all of the wiring connections. The bike is currently with a mechanic who is telling me that it is probably the stator. I'm not fully convinced that the problem is the stator. Can anybody shed any light here?
thanks, Bill

Bill, I think I'd go with what your mechanic is saying. Steve Greer

you should pull the cover off and inspect for wear and exposed copper wires on the stator, but when you say you have a "new rectifier" do you have a new one or a 30+yr old new one?

http://204.29.80.50/restore/diode/diode.html

should run you $5 at RadioShack
