Re: Does it matter?

Narly9999 wrote:OK the two wires from the ac stator. Does it matter which side of this rectifier they go to? And why dosn't the third wire from the stator go to the rectifier? That dosen't seem right. WHy?

Also, I used a computer heat sink with some sink greese and added a 12v ball berring mini fan. =-) lol Drilled the center of the heat sink for the mounting screw for the retifier. Haven't fully mounted the unit securely to the frame as yet but plan on something that's astheticly pleasing. The fan and sink are factory black like the bike so it looks pretty good.

I'm only getting 12.23v +/- .5v When the bike is on it has less voltage then when I turn it off. ON it's as said above and when off it climbs to 12.40 +. Any possible reason for this? It was exactly the same before I switched out the Rectifier. So I don't think it was my rectifier causing this issue. Hmmmmm<<<<,

Thanks ! ;)
hey narly, that black on the heat sink is likley anodized. it wont conduct. be sure to check it if it maters in your setup. just sayin

Snakeoil (I think it was you) was good enough to send me one of the radio-shack rectifiers and it works great - Plus it looks really slick!

RadioShack P/N 276-1185 called "Full-Wave Bridge Rectifier". 25amps - 50volts

I just finished a minute ago, putting one on my 305 Dream. I mounted it to the original mounting bracket and used #10 stranded wire. I was not able to put a heat sink beyond the mounting bracket the way I set it up. I let it idle for about 10 minutes with lights on and it was getting on the warm side. I may modify my set up a little more as I'm just not sure enough cooling gets into the right side box. Steve

Awesome thread! My bike is now charging and it cost about $4. I need to clean it up a bit still but the important part is done.

Thanks!

Michael,

I think the 'F' terminal would go to the Field winding of an alternator such as you would find in a car.

The AC generator in a CB77 has no Field winding, so I don't think this regulator would do much on your bike.
