light switch makes more power

in my book about my bike it says that the light switch on the headlight, when switched to the left it puts out more from the alt. but my switch faces the left so is that the down or the up side?

<br /><br />Clockwise on a CB-77/CL-77 turns on the light and connects 4 coils of the stator to the charging system. 2 of the 6 coils are always connected. On a CA-77 when the main switch is put in the &quot;lights on&quot; position, the 4 coils are connected.<br />
