Missing lots of parts for 64 CB77

Post by snootch21 » Wed May 24, 2017 9:23 pm

Hi,

My friend gave me a 64 CB77 a few years ago that was stored without the plugs in it for a long time. Now that I finally have some sparet time, I've been working on it for a few months. I just finally finished getting the incredibly seized engine free (thanks to ATF/Acetone, heat cycling and a few harmonic balancer pullers) and am now trying to come up with a parts list so I can get this baby running again. Unfortunately, it's missing a lot of parts. If anyone could help out, I'd be sincerely grateful. I've already started looking for parts on ebay, but, man, they are expensive!!!

Bear with me, because I'm super new to this. I've been looking through Bill Silver's guides and have come up with this, so far.

Engine Serial Number: 1006745

All parts for Clutch Lifter/Adjuster/Fixing Arm
Kick Starter Gear (mine's missing a tooth)
Right Crankcase Cover (mine has a huge crack in it)
key/ignition switch
Rear brake light switch and spring
Right Front Air Filter Stay
Left Rear Air Filter Stay
Left and Right Air Filter Tubes
Right Footrest Bracket Arm, swing arm dust cover and lock nut
Both Step Arm Bolts with Grease fittings
Left Foot Peg
Rubber for Tank Mounts Front and Back
Battery Grounding Cable
Battery Wire Harness A
Rear Shock (mine only has one)

I know this is a crazy list, but I figured that I'd reach out to this community first to see if anyone has some spare parts they'd be willing to part with. I'm so looking forward to this bike breathing life again.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Cheap good quality used parts are hard to come by but ebay is your best bet.

Your question is common. See link below.

Patience is your friend. We all have to pay eBay prices for parts but you need to look out for the less-pricey parts and those in need of attention. Be prepared to do work yourself to re-condition parts that you acquire.

Thanks for the advice. I totally understand that, and have been doing so. But I figured that I'd also try here since there's so many people on the site that are devoted to the same mission. Someone is bound to have a bunch of parts that they'd be willing to sell. I'd rather buy it from someone on here than someone on eBay that's just cashing in on parting out these bikes.

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out. I've already been looking at David Silver Spares, Classic Honda Restoration and CMSNL, too. It's hard to adjust to the slow burn of a project like this. I just want all the parts now so I can keep working and get it running. Anyone have some money they want to give away? Life, kids, house, etc. = no money left... HAHA!
