Heat gun on the carb slide, it will soften the gas that has turned to glue. You may just want to cut the cable so you can at least get it out into a area where you can work on it easier.

Thanks I'll give the heat gun a try. I'm hoping to use as many existing parts as possible in order to keep costs down but if the heat gun doesn't work I'll cut the cable. Ugh!

you should be able to unhook the cable at the grip end and snake it out of the frame

on the dipstick, some heat, pb blaster and a crescent wrench should do it

patience is the key...it will be a learning experience for sure!

on the solenoid, put 12volts across the 2 small wires....that should cause continuity between larger terminals when you do
